Delaware County, OH : One dead after crash on US Route 23 in Troy Township on Saturday evening, August 27, 2016
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal three-car crash in Delaware County, near Delaware State Park.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred just after 7:30pm Saturday evening on US Route 23 in Troy Township. State troopers say that Jenelle Thompson, 23, was traveling southbound on US 23 in the left lane when she performed a U-turn after slowing abruptly for a vehicle heading towards her. Ashik Sarki, 24, of Kentwood, MI, was following behind her and traveled off the left side of the road into the median. Sarki’s car struck the front left fender of Thompson’s vehicle and continued left of center into the northbound lane, eventually being struck on the right side by the vehicle operated by Kirk Kidwell, 49.
Sarki had one passenger in his vehicle, Kushila Sarki, 54. Kushila Sarki sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ashik Sarki was transported to Grant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Thompson and the two passengers in her vehicle did not sustain any injuries from the accident. Kidwell was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that all individuals involved in the accident were wearing safety belts and that alcohol or drug use is not suspected to be a factor. The accident remains under investigation.
