Carlisle, PA : Big Spring teacher killed in a single vehicle car crash in West Pennsboro Township on Wednesday night, April 6, 2016
A teacher with the Big Spring School District died Wednesday night in a single vehicle car crash in West Pennsboro Township.
Danielle Gibb, 25, was killed after her vehicle struck a tree in the 500 block of Greason Road around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Cumberland County Coroner Charley Hall.
Gibb, who had been serving as a long-term substitute teacher with the Big Spring School District, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, Hall said.
She was taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center where she later died, according to Hall.
“This is a huge loss for our school community,” said Big Spring Superintendent Richard Fry. “Danielle was so full of life and so focused on sharing that energy with our students. She truly had a gift to share with students and colleagues and friends and it showed every day. It is a huge a loss for us all.”
Fry said that Gibb was a 2009 graduate of Big Spring High School. According to her obituary, she was also a 2013 graduate of Lock Haven University, and post-graduation, she served as a substitute teacher for Big Spring and South Middleton school districts.
Gibb was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash, Hall said.
According to the obituary, funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at The Meeting House, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle.
