WAYLAND, MA : Four injured in morning crash in Wayland on Monday, December 5th, 2016
A truck driver suffered serious injuries and three others were hurt after a head-on collision on Boston Post Road on Monday, police said.
The crash occurred around 8:19 a.m. near the entrance of the Wayland landfill at 484 Boston Post Road.A box truck was heading east when a pickup, heading west, hit truck head-on. The driver of the pickup said the truck slipped on the snow.
"It was during the rush hour and during the period of the time the road conditions were not good due to the snow," Police Chief Robert Irving said.
The box truck driver's legs were seriously injured in the crash. Using the Jaws of Life cutting tool, firefighters took about 20 minutes to free him, Assistant Fire Chief Neil McPherson said.
The Framingham, Natick and Sudbury fire departments provided mutual aid at the scene.
The box truck driver man was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. The driver of the pickup truck and his two passengers were taken to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham to be treated for minor injuries, police said.
