Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a deadly crash that shut down Wilkinson Boulevard for hours Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.
It happened just before 12:30 a.m. on Wilkinson Boulevard at Rosemont Street.
Police say 22-year-old Zachary Alan Eubanks was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram with two passengers when he ran off the road and clipped a utility pole. The truck then slid sideways and struck another utility pole before
overturning and hitting a parked car.
Eubanks was pronounced dead at the scene. Reed Camp, 23, was a passenger in the truck and suffered minor injuries. The other passenger, 22-year-old Ian Stanley, was seriously injured, police say.
Eubanks, Camp and Stanley were not wearing seatbelts.
