Jersey City, NJ : Motorist struck, killed in Jersey City after turning down ride from police on the Lincoln Highway bridge early Sunday on August 3, 2014
A man whose car had broken down was struck and killed in Jersey City after he turned down a ride from police.
Police say the Spring Lake resident told officers he had lost control of the vehicle and his car became disabled on the Lincoln Highway bridge early Sunday.
Police called a tow truck and offered to drive the man to a gas station.
The Asbury Park Press reports police said the man told officers he was not riding with any Jersey City cops and would wait for his brother, who is a Newark detective, to arrive.
A car driven by a Jersey City woman struck the man on Communipaw Avenue and Route 440. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
His name has not been released.
