Dixon, CA : Sacramento man dies in I-80 crash near Kidwell on Wednesday, August 3, 2016

A 50-year-old Sacramento man was killed Wednesday on eastbound Interstate 80 after the car he was driving hit a truck that was parked on the highway shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Solano County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the crash victim as Jaime Escalante.

Authorities said the crash occurred at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday just east of Kidwell Road when the 1997 Honda driven by Escalante drifted onto the right shoulder of the roadway and hit an unoccupied 2004 Ford F-650 bobtail truck that was parked on the shoulder.

Authorities called for a Solano County coroner just before 10:30 p.m. The crash scene was contained on the right shoulder of the highway.
