Allentown, PA : Coroner identifies man killed in I-78 wreck in Upper Macungie on Sunday, January, 7th 2018
A Delaware County man was killed Sunday afternoon after a wreck on Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township.
Fredrick Evans, 68, of Norwood, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1:15 p.m. Evans’ SUV struck a tractor-trailer about 12:30 p.m. on I-78 East near mile marker 48.3. The Lehigh County coroner’s office identified Evans on Monday morning.
State police said the SUV was wedged under the rear of a tractor-trailer that was disabled and parked on the side of the highway about 1½ miles west of Exit 49A, Route 100 South, according to state police at Fogelsville.
A front passenger in the SUV was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
