Knoxville, TN : Three teens dead and one injured after a car hits a tree on near Bent Road in Kodak on Friday, February 6, 2015

Four people were inside the car during the crash according to THP. We’ve learned two 18 year old boys, a 15 year old boy and his 16 year old sister were in the car when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

A team spent the day mapping out, checking skid marks, and gathering evidence from the wreck. Investigators believe the car was speeding, the 15 year old driver lost control of the car, hit an embankment, then a tree, crushing the roof of the car. THP believes that impact killed three of the teens instantly, but one of the teens in the back seat survived.

“That young man attempted to get help for his friends, he crawled out from the ditch line, as I say he was thrown from the vehicle and he tried his best to get to the roadway to reach help,” said Lieutenant Bill Miller with Tennessee Highway Patrol.

That teen was flown via LifeStar helicopter to University of Tennessee Medical Center, we’re told by THP he is awake and talking.

For hours Bent Road was blocked as investigators worked. THP believes the 15 year old boy and his 16 year old sister skipped school Friday, meeting at a home out on Bent Road. Investigators say the teens played video games and then decided to take a drive.

“At this present time the preliminary investigation does not indicate that there are any alcohol or drugs involved,” added Lieutenant Miller.

THP said they are still working to determine what caused the crash.

“This is a parent’s worst nightmare, absolute worst nightmare, and we do not want them to find out without us being there to offer assistance and to offer them any kind of help that they may need,” said Lieutenant Miller.

The names of the four teens and where they were attending school have not been released. We do know the two 18 year old boys had graduated.
