Milwaukee, WI : 64-year-old man killed by hit-and-run driver on Milwaukee's south side on Tuesday afternoon, Nov 17, 2015

A 64-year-old Milwaukee man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Milwaukee's south side, police said.

The man was struck shortly after 5 p.m. at S. Layton Blvd. and W. Rogers St., according to a news release from the Milwaukee Police Department.

The man had just exited a Milwaukee County Transit System bus and was crossing Layton westbound when he was struck by a northbound 2001 Chevy van.

The driver of the van fled the scene and the man was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The van was located a short distance away at a residence where the driver, a 74-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested, according to the release.
