Butte, MT : A 2-year old boy was killed on Tuesday, August 8, 2017

A 2-year old boy was killed around midnight Tuesday just outside of Dillon when a car missed its turn trying to enter interstate 15 and the child was partially ejected from the car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

A 3-year-old female was also injured and had to be flown to a Missoula hospital. The two adults in the car, a 54-year old female and a 30-year old female, were also injured and were taken to Barrett Hospital and Healthcare in Dillon.

The car, a Volkswagen Beetle, was heading west out of Dillon. The driver reportedly planned to turn south onto the interstate. But the car missed the turn and continued west, hit a large post where the overpass ends and flipped onto its side.

Montana Highway Patrol Captain Gary Becker said the crash is still under investigation and he could not say if the adults and children inside the car were wearing seatbelts or if drugs and alcohol were involved.

Becker said one of the adults is a Montana resident. The other three are from out-of-state.
