Belleville, IL : Car crashes into building on Illinois 159 on May, Wednesday 10th 2017

A 68-year-old Belleville man ran his car into the Brown and Crouppen Law Firm office in Fairview Heights on Wednesday afternoon.

Fairview Heights police department spokesperson Tim Mueller said officers responded to the accident at 5200 N. Illinois St. just before 4 p.m.

The driver, he said, hit the accelerator instead of the brake and drove in the building. No one was inside the building at the time of the accident.

The man was not cited.

“On private property you are only allowed to cite for certain things,” Mueller said. “There wasn’t anything he did that warranted a citation.”

One woman was in the car with the driver when the accident occurred — she complained of pain to her shoulder but declined medical treatment.
