Orlando, FL : 8-year-old boy struck by a vehicle near Ventura Elementary School on Friday afternoon, February 6, 2015

A child has been taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Orange County, officials said.

It happened around 3:30 p.m., near the intersection of Pershing Avenue and Woodgate Boulevard. It's in the area of Ventura Elementary School.
An unknown black-colored vehicle struck the child and a sign and left the scene, according to the Orlando Fire Department.

The child has been taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, in Orlando. We're told the child's injuries are minor.
