A 32-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning when he lost control of his vehicle navigating a curve on a wet road and struck a guardrail, Arkansas State Police said.
Fordyce resident Bobby Johnson Jr. was driving north in a 1991 Lincoln on Arkansas 229 in Dallas County about 9:45 a.m., according to a preliminary crash report.
While negotiating a curve, he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the highway's right shoulder, authorities said. The vehicle reportedly slid in a clockwise motion off the road and struck a concrete bridge's guardrail on its right side.
Police said Johnson sustained fatal injuries in the wreck.
Conditions were said to be cloudy and wet at the time of the crash.
At least 422 people have died in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary statistics.
