Elsmere ,DE : 55-year-old Anthony Polletta Charged with drunken driving after a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian on Friday ,April 3rd 2015

Delaware State Police have charged a Wilmington man with drunken driving after a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian in Elsmere.

Police announced Friday that 55-year-old Anthony Polletta is charged with driving under the influence for the fifth time after Wednesday's crash. Polletta is also charged with second-degree vehicular assault, resisting arrest and several traffic offenses.

Polletta was turning right from South Clifton Avenue onto Kirkwood Highway when police say he hit a man in the crosswalk, then fled. He drove to a home on Kirkwood Highway where he hit a shed. He fled on foot, but troopers and police dogs later found him in a wooded area.

The pedestrian was flown to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where his injuries were treated.

Polletta was released after posting $8,500 bond.
