Duplin County, NC : Georgia man and his 3-year-old daughter died after a car accident on N.C. 111 near Beulaville in Duplin County early Sunday morning, May 3, 2015

A Marietta man and his 3-year-old daughter were killed in a crash in Duplin County, North Carolina early Sunday morning.

Terrence Jackson, 28, and his daughter Tayela, 3, were on the way to Jacksonville, North Carolina around 4 a.m. when the vehicle they were traveling in veered into a ditch and slammed into a tree.

Jackson was driving to Jacksonville from Raleigh, N.C., where he and Tayela were attending a funeral.

The vehicle flipped over as they traveled on North Carolina state highway 111, killing both on impact.

No one else was inside the car when the accident occurred.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Authorities also say that Jackson was not speeding at the time of the incident.

Both were wearing safety belts when the crash happened.
