Martinez, CA : Man killed in Highway 4 collision early Friday, November 11, 2016
A man was killed early Friday when his truck was hit by a car on Highway 4, causing it to roll over, authorities said.
The man’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives. He is believed to be a Manteca resident.
The wreck was reported at 6:06 a.m. Friday in the westbound lanes of Highway 4 at McEwen Road between Martinez and Hercules, the California Highway Patrol said.
The truck the man was driving was hit from behind by a Ford Focus, causing it to run off the roadway, hit a pole and overturn, authorities said.
The truck may have been slowing down to avoid something in the roadway when it was hit.
The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car driver was not injured and cooperated with investigators.
