A 57-year-old Beaverton man has died after a crash on U.S. 97 near Grass Valley, officials said Tuesday.

James W. Robinson was driving a 1969 Pontiac GTO southbound Sunday about 5:30 p.m. when he lost control and went sideways on the highway near milepost 31, the Oregon State Police said. A 2015 Ford pickup traveling behind him struck the Pontiac on the driver's side door.

Robinson was critically injured and flown by air to a hospital in The Dalles, where he died, officials said.

The Ford driver and three passengers were uninjured. Two horses being pulled in a trailer by the Ford were also uninjured.

Officials say speed is being investigated as a crash factor.
