Fire officials say an elderly man was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into an East Providence home Thursday afternoon. Neighbors tell that they saw the vehicle come down Lakeside St. and turn left onto Catalpa Ave., before driving onto the lawn of one home and crashing into the side of another. One neighbor says that she cares for the 88-year-old woman living inside of the home that was hit. The woman in the home is okay. The driver was sent to the hospital for evaluation but witnesses say they did see him walk out of his car after the accident.
