Phoenix , AZ : One person is dead and another was injured after a car crashed down a ravine at State Route 74 near Castle Springs Road On Sunday, May 22nd, 2016

One person is dead and another is hospitalized after a car crashed down a ravine north of Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the incident happened just after 6 a.m. Sunday on State Route 74 near Castle Springs Road.

Troopers say a car went into a ravine for an unknown reason

One person was pronounced dead.

Another was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic in both directions on SR 74 was closed for about an hour.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.
