SA, TX : Motorcycle crash in Santa Clarita leaves Hacienda Heights man dead, passenger injured on Sunday, 3rd May, 2020

A motorcyclist died Sunday and his passenger suffered major injuries in a solo-vehicle crash on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Santa Clarita, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 12:10 p.m. on the southbound freeway at Soledad Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol Officer C. Burgos-Lopez said.

The 2016 Harley-Davidson was going about 70 mph in the number 3 lane when Leslie S. Trujillo, 64, veered toward the right shoulder and struck a dirt embankment, ejecting himself and his passenger, Kathleen Trujillo, Burgos-Lopez said.

Leslie Trujillo was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said.

Kathleen Trujillo suffered major injuries and was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Both were from Hacienda Heights, though their relationship was not immediately made clear.

A Sigalert was requested at 12:32 p.m. for the closure of two lanes on the southbound freeway, but were reopened at 1:02 p.m. A third lane was temporarily closed, but reopened and the SigAlert canceled shortly after 4 p.m., said CHP Officer Stephan Brandt.
