Ellsworth, ME : Motorcyclist seriously hurt in Bucksport Road crash on Saturday, September 24, 2016
A Bucksport Road resident was seriously hurt over the weekend when he was involved in a single-vehicle crash with his motorcycle.
Police said the initial report indicated that Troy Gardner was trying to turn in to his driveway when he overcorrected and lost control of his motorcycle.
Gardner later told police he was pulling into his driveway and he then accelerated, “causing him to spin out of control.” Gardner was not wearing a helmet and said he could not remember what happened after pulling into the driveway.
Gardner suffered a head injury and was bleeding when police first found him, sitting in the back seat of another person’s car. He declined medical treatment from County Ambulance, and was instead taken to the emergency room at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital by a relative and a friend.
Officer Amie Torrey, who responded to the scene along with Sgt. Shawn Willey, said she was later told Gardner was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor “due to the injuries he sustained.”
Information about Gardner’s condition was not immediately available from the Bangor hospital Tuesday afternoon.
