OAKLAND, CA : Woman in grave condition after Oakland car wreck on Sunday, September 10, 2017
A 33-year-old woman was in grave condition Monday after her car crashed into a fence and overturned Sunday night near the Oakland Coliseum, authorities said.The name of the woman, an Oakland resident, was not released pending notification of relatives.
The crash happened about 8:29 p.m. Sunday in the 6500 block of Oakport Street.
Police said the woman was driving alone in a Chevrolet Malibu that was going eastbound on Oakport. Police said the woman lost control of the car, which went onto the shoulder of the roadway.
When she tried to get back on the roadway, police, said she “overcorrected” then hit a fence on the other side of the roadway. The car overturned, throwing the driver into the windshield and trapping her inside. Police said they don’t believe the woman was wearing a seat belt.
The woman was removed from the car and taken to a hospital.
Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the crash call traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
