A driver who tried to make a U-turn on Interstate 5 triggered a five-vehicle crash early Thursday near Boeing Field that blocked several lanes, the Washington State Patrol reports.

No one was seriously injured, but traffic was backed up for over an hour during the cleanup and investigation of the collision.

The woman who caused the crash is now in custody for investigation of DUI.

Troopers and medics responded to the scene, the southbound lanes of I-5 near the Boeing Access Road, at about 12:25 a.m. after receiving reports of a wrong-way driver and a serious crash.

Five damaged vehicles were found scattered across the freeway, along with an oil spill that blocked three lanes. Several people at the scene sustained minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation found that the causing driver made a U-turn on the freeway and was struck by a pickup, which triggered a chain reaction involving three other vehicles.

All lanes of the freeway reopened by 2 a.m.
