Northwest Kansas, KS : Girl dies in single-vehicle crash in northwest Kansas on Monday, 17th September 2018
A 17-year-old girl was killed Monday in a single-vehicle crash in Thomas County in northwest Kansas, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 11:59 a.m. Monday at the intersection of County Road 11 and County Road H, about 10 miles south of the Levant community.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 Hyundai Elantra was southbound on County Road 11 when it left the roadway to the right and the driver over-corrected.
The car then came back across the roadway and entered the east ditch, where it rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest in a stubble field.
The driver, Reata Pinkerton, 17, of Russell Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said Pinkerton, who was the only passenger in the car, wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
