Sioux City,IA : Monday night pickup-semi accident near Emerson injures 1 on January, Monday 8th 2018

The Dakota County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident about two miles east of Emerson, Nebraska, on Highway 35 around 7:20 p.m. Monday.

27-year-old Jonathan Smith of Pender, Nebraska, sustained injuries as a result of the collision, in which a tractor trailer hit his Chevrolet Avalanche.

Smith was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Emerson Rescue.


The tractor trailer's driver, 38-year-old Daniel Stueck of Columbus, Nebraska, was uninjured.

Highway 35 was closed for several hours as the Nebraska State Patrol reconstructed the accident scene, and to allow for the removal of the vehicles. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.
