Tucson, AZ : Three people killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 Tuesday October 19th 2016
Three people killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 Tuesday morning have been identified.
Abril Castillo, 41, of Tucson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 12-year-old daughter, who was her passenger was taken to the hospital, but died later from her injuries, said Quentin Mehr, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman. The girl's name was not released.
Tina Totty, 46, of Rio Rico also died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.
Another person was hospitalized and treated for her injuries.
The crash happened about 8 a.m. when a semi-truck driven by Roberto Monge, 33, of Tucson, was traveling west on I-10 in the outside lane of traffic and failed to stop for traffic backed up at the Ruthrauff Road exit, Mehr said Wednesday in a news release.
The truck struck the back of Castillo's car, setting off a chain reaction that involved five other passenger cars and a commercial box truck.
The investigation continues, Mehr said.
Castillo worked as a photographer and videographer, and owned her own business.
