San Tan Valley, AZ : California man struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on a road in San Tan Valley on Thursday morning, March 12, 2015

Authorities say a California man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while walking on a road in San Tan Valley.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Agustin Tavita and his brother were walking westbound Thursday morning in an eastbound traffic lane when a Chevy Cavalier hit Tavita.

Deputies say Tavita was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His 24-year-old brother, Van Ah Mau Tavita, was not hurt.

Deputies say the 51-year-old San Tan Valley driver did not see the men. They say the driver showed no signs of impairment. No criminal charges pending.

Tavita's body has been turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

Deputies say the brothers were from Santa Ana, California.
