WATERTOWN, SD : Two people died in a two-vehicle crash south of Watertown. on Sunday, August 20, 2017
The names of the two people are not being released pending notification of their families. They were the only people involved in the crash
A 2002 Toyota Corolla was northbound on U.S. Highway 81 when it crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2003 Chrysler Concorde. The Concorde went into the west ditch and started on fire.
The 16-year-old female driver of the Corolla and the 64-year-old male driver of the Concorde were both pronounced dead at scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, Codington County Sheriff’s Office, Hayti Fire Department, Castlewood Fire Department and Watertown Fire Department.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
