Knoxville ,TN :29 -Years old Colbie Taylor killed after head-on collision with another Vehicle on Thursday night ,April 23 2015

A 29-year-old Knoxville man was killed Thursday night in a head-on crash with another vehicle on Weaver Road in the Powell area, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Steven Higgins' 2001 Hyundai burst into flames and he was trapped inside, according to the Sheriff's Office. He died at the scene.

Arriving officers tried without success to put the fire out with extinguishers.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Colbie Taylor, 20, of Knoxville was driving a 2009 BMW west on Beaver Road. She ran off the shoulder of the road, over-corrected and went into Higgins' lane, causing the collision near Messer Lane, according to authorities.

Taylor and her 22-year-old passenger Karey O'Brien of Hendersonville suffered minor injuries. They were treated at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
