Three men were injured, two seriously, after the SUV they were traveling in went off Interstate 495 South and into trees in the median Monday morning.
One of the victims was thrown from the vehicle in the 7:15 a.m. single-vehicle accident south of the Route 1 exit.
Fire Capt. Robert Skinner said the driver of the vehicle suffered a head injury and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence in a Foxboro ambulance. State police said he was a 28-year-old man from Framingham.
The other seriously injured victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in a Plainville ambulance and the third was taken to Sturdy Memorial in a Wrentham ambulance, Skinner said.
The injuries were not believed to be life threatening, officials said.
No charges were immediately filed but the cause of the crash is under investigation by state police at the Foxboro barracks, according to Sgt. Thomas Ryan, a state police spokesman..
Traffic during the commuter rush hour was slowed on the highway and was backed up to Route 1A in Wrentham at one point.
