A California man fleeing in a stolen vehicle was arrested Wednesday afternoon following a wreck at the intersection of Highway 95 and Riverview Drive.
The Bullhead City Police Department arrested Andrew Everett Blakley, 20, of Riverside, Calif., on suspicion of theft of means of transportation, felony flight from pursuing law enforcement, two counts of endangerment, two counts of criminal damage, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and leaving the scene of an accident. Blakley’s girlfriend and her 3-year-old son were passengers inside the stolen silver Honda.
No one involved in the accident reported any injuries.
On Wednesday at about 1 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office notified the Bullhead City Police Department that it was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle and the vehicles were approaching the Bullhead City limits. Bullhead City police did not join the pursuit and California authorities called off the chase over fears of endangering other motorists.
Though police no longer were chasing Blakley, he continued traveling north on the highway at a high rate of speed and ultimately crashed into two vehicles at Highway 95 and Riverview Drive, according to police.
Blakley continued to drive the vehicle until it became disabled at Kaibab and Riverview drives. Then, he ran into the desert area where a citizen ran after him and detained him until police arrived.
A small plastic bag of methamphetamine was found in Blakley’s sock and a methamphetamine pipe was located in his pocket.
