SLIDELL, LA : Car crash claims life of 18-year-old Pearl River High student on graduation day on Saturday, 4th May 2024

An 18-year-old, identified as Helgin Guerra, died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Hwy 190 near Cross Creek Drive in Slidell early Saturday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.

The fatal incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m.

Guerra was traveling northbound in a 2004 Chevrolet Express when the vehicle struck a bridge guardrail and overturned. The crash led to Guerra, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustaining fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
