PALMER, MA : Man killed in an early morning accident on April, Wednesday 26th 2017
The man killed in an early morning accident on Boston Road has been identified as Glen Gilmore, 32, of Monson.The identity had been withheld until Gilmore's family could be notified. The announcement was made by the office of Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.
Gilmore was the sole occupant of a vehicle that went off the road at around 3 a.m. and crashed into a bridge abutment where the Massachusetts Turnpike crosses over Boston Road.
The car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the abutment. Gilmore was thrown from the vehicle, which then burst into flames.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Gilmore's obituary, he had lived in Monson for several years and owned Gil's Gym in Palmer.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and his mother.
A funeral service for Gilmore is planned for Friday at 11 a.m. at the Second Congregational Church in Palmer.
Calling hours are scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home on North Main Street.
