Oviedo, FL : Two people killed, 3 critically injured in chase and crash on State Road 417 in Seminole County on Monday, Nov 9, 2015
State Road 417 is back open after a crash left two dead and paralyzed the road for hours.
Some of the video from witnesses is so disturbing that News 6 decided to blur it out.
Zach Halfman and his dad shot video on the 417 moments after a speeding car flipped, while trying to avoid stop sticks laid out by deputies.
"That's the guy who just passed us!" Halfman can be heard saying in the recording. "Oh, there's a person laying in the ditch two of them, three of them, four of them! Oh no. Oh, my god!"
The five people thrown from the smoking car were running from deputies. Two died and the rest remain in critical condition. They were suspects, wanted in an armed burglary in Sanford.
Police said two stolen cars -- a Corvette and an Acura -- were both at the house that was robbed. The alleged robbers ran from officials, ditched the Corvette, piled into the Acura and refused to stop when deputies tried to pull them over.
"Our deputies caught up with the burgundy Acura after it struck a motorcyclist in the Sanford area," said Kim Cannaday, with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. "Were other drivers in danger? We know he was driving at a high rate of speed and if you know this road here coming over the 417 bridge, in and out of traffic, so it's extremely dangerous."
That dangerous ride through Seminole County ended in frustration for drivers after troopers were forced to shut down the 417 during rush hour.
"It's been crazy. Absolutely crazy," said Dave gibbons, who stopped to get directions from us and the Sheriff's Office after sitting in traffic for an hour. "My sister flew in from Pennsylvania. We came down from Ocala. We left there at 3:30. We're still not at the airport."
The 417 opened back up around 7:30 p.m.
Deputies were not chasing the car on the ground before the crash.
