Oklahoma City, OK : Semi catches on fire after crash, closes part of I-40 near Amarillo Junction on June 2, 2014

A semi-truck crashed early Monday morning and caught fire, according to authorities.

The crash shut down part of Interstate 40 near the Amarillo Junction and Meridian. According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, the truck crashed and caught fire on westbound Interstate 40 near Portland Avenue a little after 2 a.m.

One lane of westbound was reopened around 7 a.m. The rest of the roadway is expected to be closed for several hours, including much of the morning rush hour.

Officials do not know what caused the crash, but the driver was not injured. Officials said they do not suspect that the driver was doing anything illegal when the crash happened.

The truck was not carrying hazardous materials at the time of the crash, according to authorities. No other cars were involved in the accident.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
