Houma, LA : Two people injured after a three-vehicle crash at La. 311 and Civic Center Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2016
Two people were taken to an area hospital following a three-vehicle crash that happened at La. 311 and Civic Center Boulevard in Houma late Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. No fatalities were reported.
Houma Police's Sgt. Travis Theriot said that a Mitsubishi Montero was traveling eastbound on La. 311 when it ran a red light, causing a Good Earth transit bus traveling southbound on Lafayette Street to hit the car on its side.
The Mitsubishi then veered and sideswiped a Ford Expedition in the same lane before flipping on its side, Theriot said. The Mitsubishi landed a few feet away from the bayou.
A man and a woman occupied the Mitsubishi, Theriot said. One of them was airlifted for treatment, but the extent of that person's injuries was uncertain. One of the three bus passengers was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Houma Fire Department also responded to the wreck.
