NEW CONCORD, OH : I-70 crash sends panel truck driver to hospital on Tuesday, 4th October 2016
A one-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 near the Guernsey-Muskingum county line resulted in a truck driver being transported to a Columbus hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The driver's name was not available as of press time as the accident report by the Ohio State Highway Patrol was not available prior to press time.
The driver was reportedly first transported by New Concord EMS to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville before being transferred to Ohio Health's Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Neither the extent nor the nature of the driver's injuries were available.
According to reports, a 911 caller reported a white, panel truck went over the guardrail on I-70 near mile post 171. The call was received at approximately 4:30 p.m.
First responders from the New Concord and Cassell Station fire departments were dispatched along with highway patrol troopers. Cassell Station first responders were later canceled while en route to the scene.
The driver was reportedly transported from Genesis Hospital to Grant Medical Center via ambulance.
The extent of damage the truck sustained was not available.
