EPPING, NH : Portsmouth man killed in Route 101 crash on Saturday, December, 9th 2017
State Police responded to a single car, fatal accident Saturday afternoon on Route 101.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:34 p.m. Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A barracks and the New Hampshire State Police C.A.R. Unit responded. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Audi, Q5, driven by Peter Johnson, 50, of Portsmouth, for reasons that are still under investigation, left the roadway and crashed into the Martin Road overpass.
Johnson was pronounced dead by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Police say that speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors, but the accident remains under investigation.
Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the New Hampshire State Police C.A.R. Unit, the Epping Police Department, and the Epping Fire Department.
