South Lubbock, TX : Early-morning rollover crash in South Lubbock on Interstate 27 near 82nd Street on Friday, 27th July 2018

Friends of a highly regarded 23-year-old hair stylist were mourning her loss after an early-morning rollover crash in South Lubbock.

Investigators believe Maci Hamilton was the only occupant of the vehicle that crashed about 3:05 a.m. on Interstate 27 near 82nd Street, according to Lubbock police spokeswoman Tiffany Pelt.

Hamilton was a stylist at Salon Sculpt in Lubbock who received glowing reviews from customers and frequently shared photos of her work on social media.

Her co-workers at Salon Sculpt released a statement about her loss.

“We are devastated over the loss of our dear friend and fellow stylist,” the statement reads. “Her presence and smile lit up the salon. Her free spirit will be deeply missed by all. We send all of our love, strength and prayers to her family, friends and sweet daughter.”

Through the initial investigation, it appeared her car was traveling south in the 7800 block of I-27 when it hit a guardrail and then rolled.

Pelt said the car came to a stop in the concrete median between I-27 and the southbound I-27 access road.

Hamilton was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear what prompted Hamilton’s vehicle to hit the guardrail as the crash remained under investigation by the LPD Accident Investigation team Friday.
