Billings, MT : 44-year-old woman from Plains died in a fatal crash on Monday, 2nd April 2018
A 44-year-old woman from Plains died in a fatal crash Monday afternoon when the vehicle she was riding in was side-swiped on U.S. Highway 87, about 7 miles south of Roundup, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
The vehicle the woman was in, a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by a 22-year-old Billings woman, had been traveling northbound along a bend in the icy road, according to the MHP report on the fatal crash.
A southbound Ford E-350 van, driven by a 25-year-old man from Billings, crossed over the center line as it reached the same bend, the report states, and hit the other vehicle.
All three people were wearing seatbelts, according to the MHP report.
The crash was reported Monday at 3:40 p.m. The highway was temporarily closed as road crews cleared the wreckage away.
No further details about the crash were available from MHP as of Tuesday morning. The trooper assigned to the crash investigation did not immediately return a phone call for comment.
The Musselshell County Sheriff's Office has not yet released the name of the woman.
