A Palatka woman was killed and two other passengers were seriously injured in a car crash that occurred early Sunday morning on U.S. 17 in Satsuma, according to an FHP release.
Troopers said a 2001 Jeep Wrangler traveling north on U.S. 17 just north of County Road 309B veered onto the north shoulder and struck a tree.
The vehicle then traveled back onto the roadway where it overturned, ejecting all three occupants, who were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Alexis Wade, 22, of Palatka, was killed, while the other two occupants, Kyle Wade, 24, of Palatka, and Mark Worlow, 40, of Palatka, are being treated for serious injuries at UF Health Shands.
Troopers said is not clear who was in control of the vehicle at the time of the crash and investigators are still trying to determine if the accident was alcohol or drug related.
