Vassar Township, MI : One of the vehicles involved in a head-on crash on M-15 near Rupprecht in Michigan's Thumb on Wednesday, January 6, 2016
A vehicle driving south in the northbound lane of a Michigan highway led to a head-on crash that injured both drivers and a toddler passenger, police say.
Tuscola County deputies responded about 6:20 p.m. Jan. 6 to the crash on M-15 near Rupprecht.
Police determined through statements from drivers and witnesses that a 32-year-old Bay City woman was southbound on M-15 in the northbound lane without the headlights on.
A 36-year-old Reese woman was northbound and attempted to avoid the other driver, swerving into the southbound lane, police said.
The southbound driver also attempted to swerve back into the southbound lane, police said, and the vehicles collided head-on.
The Bay City woman was injured and transported to Covenant HealthCare hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The Reese woman and a toddler son were also injured. They were also transported to Covenant with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The investigation continues and will be turned over to the Tuscola County Prosecutor's Office for review.
MMR, Reese Police Department, Vassar Police Department and Vassar Fire Department assisted at the scene.
