A 16-year-old boy was killed and five other people were injured Wednesday in a five-vehicle crash near the Lancaster County Event Center in Lincoln.

Blayne Rezac, a junior in Lincoln Public Schools, died in the crash, said Mary Kay Roth, a spokeswoman for the district. Another LPS student was injured, she said. Today, crisis counselors will be at North Star High School and The Career Academy, where Blayne attended classes.

The collision occurred at 10:25 a.m. just south of the 84th Street entrance to the event center, a Lincoln police spokeswoman said. The names of the injured have not been released.

The crash is under investigation, and details of what occurred have not been released.
