Butte, MT : 44-year-old man died in a rollover crash on the Interstate 90-15 in southwestern Montana on Thursday morning, Sep 24, 2015
A 44-year-old male from Des Moines, Wash., died Thursday morning when he rolled his convertible on the Interstate 15-90 interchange about 5 miles west of Butte, the Montana Highway Patrol reported.
The vehicle was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 when the driver took a tight corner too fast. At about 6:30 a.m., the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, collided with a concrete barrier, rolled into the ditch, then overturned, according to a MHP report.
The driver was pinned underneath the vehicle and was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived, said a dispatcher. He was wearing a seat belt and the air bags deployed properly.
“It is unknown if alcohol was a factor, but speed was a factor,” the dispatcher said.
The accident occurred close to Nissler Junction west of Rocker. The crash was reported at 7:21 a.m., according to the MHP.
MHP Trooper Matt Christensen said the name of the driver will be released after relatives are notified.
