New Castle, DE : 36-year-old Melissa Livingstone died and another injured when they tried to cross a road on Wednesday, Sep 9, 2015
Delaware State Police say a pedestrian was killed and another hurt when they tried to cross a road in New Castle.
It happened about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Basin Road. Troopers say 36-year-old Melissa Livingstone and 37-year-old Robert Spencer, both of Delaware City, were trying to cross the southbound lanes.
Police say the two stepped directly into the path of a car being driven by 51-year-old Archie Thornton of New Castle.
Investigators say Livingstone and Spencer were hit by the car and thrown to the ground. They were taken to Christiana Hospital, where Livingstone was pronounced dead. Spencer was admitted to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Thornton was not hurt.
The crash is under investigation.
