One motorist is dead and five students were injured after a Monday morning Highland County crash between a school bus and an SUV.
Ohio State Troopers said Helen M. Dean, 54, of Sardinia, Ohio, was driving southeast on Ohio 321 at approximately 7 a.m. when the Honda Passport she was operating struck the rear of a Blue Bird school bus that was slowing to pick up students of Bright Local School District.
Dean, who was not wearing a seat belt, was declared dead at the scene by the Highland County Coroner.
Five Whiteoak High School students were transported to local hospitals with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, according to the OSHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
