Splendora, TX : 22-year-old male driver injured after losing control of his vehicle on Daw Collins Road on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2014

A 22-year-old Splendora man was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center after a single-car rollover crash left him trapped inside his vehicle Tuesday morning.
Police, fire and ambulance officials responded to the crash about 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Daw Collins Road and Partain Road in the Splendora area, where a Ford Explorer had flipped into a ditch.
The driver, who suffered minor injuries, told crash scene investigators he was traveling about 50 mph on the two-lane road heading south when he lost control of the SUV. The speed limit on Daw Collins is 40 mph.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Josh Benson said the vehicle turned over on its left side before landing in a ditch.
Fire and ambulance officials extracted the driver from the vehicle, Benson said. The driver was stable and conscious at the crash scene but did suffer an injury to his ankle.
"He was responsive on scene," Benson said. "He was trapped in the vehicle. Fire and EMS was able to extract him from the vehicle."
DPS officials spent the afternoon typing the crash report and conducting inventory on the Ford Explorer. Benson said the wet roadways likely contributed to the crash.
"That's pretty much what it is. He said he was traveling at about 50 mph, lost control of the vehicle and probably hydroplaned," Benson said. "Any time the roads get wet like this we see an increase in crashes."
The road was cleared for traffic about 11 a.m.
