Authorities say two people have been hurt in a series of crashes that involved up to 11 vehicles in western Michigan.
Ottawa County sheriff's Sgt. David VanderPloeg says the situation began Friday morning when a vehicle stalled because of mechanical problems on U.S. 31 in Holland Township.
The Grand Rapids Press reports the wrecks happened on a busy intersection near several car dealerships.
One vehicle hit into several stopped ahead of it, setting off a series of chain-reaction crashes. The Holland Sentinel says darkness, rain and slick roads were contributing factors.
According to VanderPloeg, one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames.
The two people suffered minor injuries.
