Bossier Parish, LA : 59-year-old Richard Doane died in a fiery crash on LA Hwy. 3/Benton Rd. on Thursday morning, June 30, 2016

Louisiana State Police have released the name of the victim who was involved in a fiery crash late Thursday morning.

Authorities say 59-year-old Richard Doane was traveling northbound on LA Hwy. 3/Benton Rd. around 11 a.m. when he reportedly lost control of his 2004 Subaru Forester and plowed into a piece of heavy machinery on the side of Hwy. 3.

The impact of the crash caused the SUV to burst into flames. Doane was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses say Doane never hit the brakes when he struck the large excavator that was sitting well off the highway near the intersection with Lafitte Ln. at Cash Point.

The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.

The northbound lanes of Hwy 3 were re-opened just before 2 p.m
