A passenger in a semitrailer truck was killed Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 80 southeast of York, officials said.
An eastbound 2016 Kenworth left the roadway and entered the median about 5:35 a.m. just east of mile marker 362, the York County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. The semi traveled several hundred feet before flipping on its side and sliding into a guardrail.
The driver, Jonathan Tate of Columbus, Georgia, was taken by medical helicopter to Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger’s name was being withheld until relatives could be notified, officials said Friday afternoon.
